Your bedroom should be a space for you to relax and recharge at the end of a busy day, whilst also having the room to store your clothes and other belongings. To keep things functional and organised, but also welcoming and beautiful, we’ve pulled together our top bedroom storage ideas for maximising your space.

1). Use space under the bed
It seems like such an obvious one, but are you utilising one of the biggest hidden storage spaces in the room? Every bedroom has a bed, and if you’re not making the most of this area, you’re losing a lot of prime space.
Our advice would be to think about storage before buying your bed. Is a divan style bed with drawers going to be enough space for what you’d like to store under there, or would a more traditional frame be better suited for squeezing in more items?

2). Look up
If you’re working with a smaller room where floor space is tight, start to think about the verticals in your room. If you have taller ceilings, a custom dresser that has added height could be a way to make the most of this perk. Wall-mounted shelves and book cases are also a great option that won’t have your bedroom feeling too crowded.
3). Multi-functional furniture
It looks like one thing, does another. Think ottomans, hollow window benches that open up, chairs that have secret storage, and nightstands with drawers. You’d be surprised how many pieces of furniture have the capacity to store certain items.

4). Maximise your wardrobe capacity
Whether it's standalone or built-in, wardrobes are probably going to be your biggest bedroom asset when it comes to storage. There are some great hacks you can use to make even the smallest of wardrobes hold more clothes.
For wardrobes with a clothes rail, try adding in a second rail for shorter items like shirts and skirts, and opt for thinner, non-slip hangers to save space. If you’re dealing with shelving, boxes or shelf dividers for your smaller items like underwear and socks will keep things looking tidy and uncluttered.
5). Back of the door
Don’t neglect the back of your wardrobe or bedroom door, as this is a great spot for hanging lighter items like the odd handbag, scarf, or coat. You can buy over-door hooks that work quite well for this. Just be sure not to overload these areas with lots of items to avoid cluttering up your room.

6). Keep things looking cohesive
Whilst you might need a few key pieces in your bedroom like a wardrobe, bookcase, shelving, or a vanity unit, you can create a calm and relaxing space by investing in good quality furniture in matching shades that compliment each other.
